The Ponderosa features over 200 acres up the side of Bluestone Ridge. Most of the area is wooded but there are multiple ponds, streams, and fields scattered around. Much of the land here was used as goat pastures but the property was mainly used to quarry New York bluestone, a natural cleft sandstone that has been used for sidewalks, patios, and flooring for hundreds of years. The quarry “rubble” is used for the dry stack walls you will see all around our property.
The are two “sides” to the property that we call The Cabin Side and The Big House Side. Guests will be arriving and parking on The Cabin Side through the Kreyer Lane entrance. The ceremonies themselves will be taking place near the Big Pond on this side.
The Cabin Side also features Karl’s Rock Bottom, an outdoor bar and campfire.
As the day progresses we will take a short walk through the woods to The Big House Side for activities, food, and fun at our other outdoor facility we call Al Fresco’s.
Dinner and the reception will be on this side. There is very limited parking on this part of the property so all cars should enter off of Kreyer Lane and park there. We can provide golf cart transportation for anyone who may have issues walking between properties.
Below are some photos for you to get a sense of the place.
