Transportation

Getting to Kingston, NY:

Aside from driving it is easy to take a New York Trailways bus from Port Authority in Manhattan. The bus trip takes about 2 hours and 5 minutes at a cost of about $55 round trip. The Trailways bus station is within walking distance of both the Best Western and the Super 8 hotels.

Getting Around:

There are a few public transportation options for getting around once you are in the area but keep in mind Ulster County is a driving culture so the use of cabs and car services is not huge.

TAXI SERVICE

Kingston Kabs is available for airport transfers as well as getting around town. They don’t have a ton of taxis and they can get pretty busy on the weekends so if you plan on using a taxi service it’s best to set it up ahead of time. You may find it takes an hour or more to get one to make it here if you don’t plan ahead. Rides from the Best Western or the Super 8 should be in the $20 range each way.

UBER/LYFT

Both Uber and Lyft now operate in the Mid-Hudson Valley. The number of drivers has grown and this option is becoming increasingly popular. Again, give yourself plenty of time to get somewhere if you plan to use this option. It may take 5 minutes but it may take much longer. Pricing is similar to the taxis and should be about $20 to get from Kingston to our house.
